Have you ever stopped to think if something is a little strange on your WhatsApp?

Let me tell you: one afternoon, while I was using the app, I noticed some things that didn't add up.

Messages marked as read without me even opening them, the battery running out quickly and notifications popping up out of nowhere.

That's when I started to wonder: “Is someone listening to my conversations?”

My Security Alert

Imagine the scene: I was drinking coffee, checking my messages, and then I noticed that my cell phone was getting too hot and the battery was running out in the blink of an eye.

These little things really pissed me off and I thought to myself: “Could it be that, somehow, someone is accessing my WhatsApp without my permission?”

Finding Out What Was Happening

At that moment, I decided to check who was logged into my account. I followed a simple path:

  1. I went to Settings: I opened WhatsApp and went straight to the settings (or “Settings” if you use an iPhone).
  2. I looked at the Connected Devices: In the “Connected Devices” option, I checked the list carefully.
  3. Immediate Action: To my surprise (or relief), I found a session I didn't recognize. Without thinking twice, I disconnected all unknown devices.

This small action brought me enormous relief, as if I had closed a door that had been open for a long time.

A Review on My Cell Phone

Additionally, I spent some time reviewing the apps installed on my phone.

I kept an eye out for any programs I didn't remember downloading.

After all, a spy app can be hidden among many others, collecting information without us noticing.

Tips that I now make part of my daily life

Even though I wasn't absolutely sure that I was being spied on, I decided to take some measures to never be left in that uncertainty again.

Here are some attitudes that are now part of my security routine to make your WhatsApp truly secure:

  • Two-Factor Authentication: Enabling this option was like putting a second lock on my digital door. Now, in addition to the password, I need an extra PIN to access my account.
  • Beware of Verification Codes: I learned that this code is personal and non-transferable. If someone asks for this number, it is best to refuse and be suspicious.
  • Application Access Protection: I set up a password lock on WhatsApp itself. It could be a fingerprint or facial recognition, but the important thing is that only I can access my conversations.
  • Keep an Eye on Links and Messages: If a link or message looks suspicious, I stop and think before clicking. This small precaution can make a big difference.

Final Reflections

This experience taught me how important it is to take care of our digital security.

At the end of the day, our privacy is precious, and being aware of it is a way to show self-love.

Even though I'm calm today, this lesson stayed with me and made me rethink the care I take with my data.

If you have ever had or are still having similar doubts, know that you are not alone.

The best way to protect yourself is to pay attention to the signs, review your settings and, most importantly, share these tips with friends and family.

After all, when it comes to whether your WhatsApp is really secure, we can take better care of each other.

Take care of yourself and always keep your privacy first!
